Turu avanemisest on see kutsunud inimesi nagu magnet. Tänane probleem seisneb selles, et turg on vananenud ja roostes pärast aastakümneid klientide ja müüjate külastust. Ma pakun alale uue lahenduse – likvideerida enamus, mis seal praegu asub ning luua turule uus hoone. Varem või hiljem laguneb turg täielikult ning mida varem me tegutseme, seda suurem on võimalus, et sinna taaskord elu sisse lüüa. See ei ole täielikult hääbunud koht, kuid see oleks, kui miskit ette ei võeta. Täna on seal palju välitingimustes turulette ja samuti üks turuhoone. Lahenduseks pakun ma rohkem avatud variandi – rajada üks suurem maht ning tagada sellele rohkem funktsioone. Võimalikuks osutuvad suvised väliletid, multifunktsionaalne saal, lastele pühendatud ruum mängimiseks ning avatud rendipinnad erinevatele poodidele. Projekteeritav hoone ise on avatud igale küljele ning sisehoovile, kus peamine tegevus toimub. Viilkatus kombineerib 1. ja 2. korruse mahud üheks. Haljastuseks on kasutatud Jaapani vahtraid, mis toovad unikaalse vaate Tallinna linnaruumi tänu oma punasele värvusele. Ma usun, et Tallinna Keskturu probleem on selge, nüüd on vaja leida lahendus, mis on funktsionaalne ning tagab unikaalse ruumi.Tallinn’s Central Market has been a part of people’s everyday lives – the locals and the ones that travel there. Since the market’s opening, it invites people like a magnet. The problem today is that the locale is tired and rusty from all the centuries of clients and merchants. I propose a new solution to the site. To get rid of almost everything there at the moment and make a new beginning for the market. Sooner or later it will decay and the sooner we act, the bigger the chance to bring it back to life. It is not a dead place but it will be if nothing is to be done. Today there are many outdoor market stalls and also an indoor house. I propose a more open solution – to make one of big volume and fit it with many functions. There is a possibility of outdoor summer stalls, a stage with multiple uses, a comfortable room for children to play in and open rental rooms to house different stores. The building itself is open to all the sides and to the central park area where the main activity is located. The pitched roofline combines the ground and the first floor into one volume. For landscaping there are red Japanese Maple trees which provide quite a unique view in Tallinn’s cityspace due to their red color.
