dc.description.abstract | Käesoleva lõputöö eesmärgiks oli välja selgitada, milline on nõudlus, et lisada Eesti Buss OÜ kaugbussiliinide sõiduplaanidesse peatused Reisisadam ja Lennujaam. Töö käigus andis autor teoreetilises osas ülevaate ettevõttest Eesti Buss OÜ, Tallinna Lennujaama ja Reisisadama liikuvusest, konkurentidest, ühistranspordi rollist ja liinivõrgu kujundamisest. Töö põhiosas on kirjeldatud antud lõputöös kasutatavat uurimisstrateegiat, milleks on kombineeritud juhtumiuurimus ja peamist uurimismeetodid, milleks on kombineeritud juhtumiuuring. Sellele tuginedes jõudis lõputöö autor eesmärgini. Uuringus osales 184 inimest. Uuringu tulemustest selgus, et nõudlus lisamaks Tallinna Lennujaama ja Reisisadama peatused kaugbussiliini sõiduplaanidesse on olemas. Ühistranspordi kasutamine on auto kasutamise kõrval väga populaarne, igapäevaselt on mõlema kasutajaid suhteliselt võrdselt. Auto on mugav ning kiire, kuid kui oleks võimalus kasutada teenust kaugbussiliini näol jõudmaks Tallinna olulistesse transpordi sõlmpunktidesse, siis seda ka tehtaks. Autot ei eelistata ühistranspordile, kuid nii Reisisadamasse kui ka Lennujaama auto parkimine on väga kallis. Tallinna Lennujaama ja Reisisadama kõige tihedam külastussagedus on harvemini kui üks kord kuus. Sammuti Simple Express-i teenuse kõige populaarsem kasutustihedus on harvemini kui üks kord kuus. Eelnevatele tulemustele tuginedes ja andmete analüüsimise käigus leidis lõputöö autor, et kõige otstarbekam oleks lisada teemas olevad peatused sõiduplaanidesse nõudepeatustena. Uuringus selgus, millistele liinidele inimesed sooviksid antud peatuseid. Tuginedes nõudlusele, busside täituvuastemele liinidel ja linnade tõmbuvusele, leidis autor, et peatused tuleks lisada Tallinn-Tartu-Tallinn, Tallinn-Narva-Tallinn ja Tallinn-Kuressaare-Tallinn liinidele. Neile liinidele on lõputöö autor koostanud ka optimaalsed marsruudid läbimaks kõiki transpordi sõlmpunkte. Viimasena on lõputöös välja toodud järeldused ja ettepanekud, kuidas võiks Eesti Buss OÜ edasi käituda. dc.description.abstract | More and more people tend to travel between the capital city and their home town on regular basis. One of the reasons of such behaviour is that the main transportation centres, like Tallinn Airport and the Port of Tallinn, are located in Tallinn. The Airport and the Port are used daily to travel on business or to have a vacation. People usually get to the capital by driving a car or taking a long-distance bus. Using a car is the most convenient and the fastest way to hit the spot, but taking a bus allows a person not to worry about parking-related issues. There are three types of people according to the usage of transportation. First, the people who never use public transport and only drive a car. Then, there are people who prefer to use only public transportation; the third group of people are flexible, and choose the transportation type according to their needs. The main issue of the thesis is that the Estonian public transportation company Eesti Buss LLC is not aware of the transportation needs of travellers who are heading to the main transport centres in Tallinn. The general aim of the current thesis is to identify the need for transportation. The specific objective is to identify the means of transportation that people use to reach the capital and the preference reasons. If people decide to take a bus, the whole service must be very convenient and high-quality. The author of this thesis set the following research questions to fulfil the general aim: 1. Which are the available opportunities to travel from smaller Estonian towns to the Tallinn Airport and to the Port of Tallinn and vice versa? 2. How big is the amount of travellers who use the services of LC Tallinn Airport and LC Port of Tallinn? 3. Which are the needs and expectations of potential service users, and how high is the demand for such services? 4. How to add new stops to the transportation timetable? By analysing the results of survey, the author of current thesis aims to identify if there is a need for adding new stops to the transportation timetable of Eesti Buss LCC on heading to the Port of Tallinn and Tallinn Airport, and which would be the most convenient way to do it. The author of the thesis makes conclusions and further proposals based on the obtained results. In the theoretical part of this thesis, the author gives an overview about the company Eesti Buss LCC, the travelling-related numbers of Tallinn Airport and Port of Tallinn, competitors, the role of public transportation, and the design of transportation timetables. The main part of current thesis describes the used research strategy – a combined case study strategy; and the main research method – a combined case study method. The usage of such methods allowed the author to fulfil the main aim. The survey involved 184 participants. The survey results revealed that there is a identified need to add the stops of Tallinn Airport and the Port of Tallinn to the transportation timetable of long-distance buses. Using the public transportation and driving a car are popular ways of transportation; the number of daily travellers of both types of transportation is relatively equal. Driving a car is a convenient and fast way, but if there would be a greater possibility to reach the important transportation centres by using public transportation – a long-distance bus for instance – people would prefer it. Driving a car is not preferred compared to using public transportation, but the parking fines are extremely high in the parking lots of the Port of Tallinn and Tallinn Airport. The highest visit frequency numbers of Tallinn Airport and the Port of Tallinn does not exceed one time per month. Also, the highest usage frequency numbers of bus-line “Simple Express” does not exceed one time per month. Based on the previous results and analysis, the author of this thesis concluded that the most convenient way to add the above-mentioned stops to the transportation timetable is to add them as requested stops. The survey also revealed which are the most popular public transportation lines that would be in need to have the fore-mentioned stops. Based on the demand, the traveller numbers and the destination attractiveness, the author of the thesis concluded that there is a need for adding new stops to the following bus line timetables – Tallinn-Tartu-Tallinn, Tallinn-Narva-Tallinn and Tallinn-Kuressaare-Tallinn. The author of the thesis compiled the optimum routes for the bus company which would pass all fore-mentioned transportation centres. Finally, the thesis provides conclusions, further steps and proposals for Eesti Buss LCC. | en |
