Tallinna Lennujaama jäätõrjevedeliku mõju sademeveele

Jäätõrjevedelikud on olulised Tallinna Lennujaama tegevustes. Jäätõrjevedelikud on vajalikud, et tagada lennu ohutus madalatel temperatuuridel. Jää ja lumi muudavad lendamise ohtlikuks ning võivad põhjustada lennuõnnetusi. Jäätõrjevedelikud on kemikaalid ja nagu paljude kemikaalidega, nende sattumine loodusesse võib häirida keskkonna keemilist tasakaalu. Tallinna Lennujaama territooriumil on projekteeritud sademevee kogumissüsteem, et need kemikaalid ei satuks loodusesse. Antud töö eesmärk oli uurida, kas Tallinna Lennujaama lumekogumisplatsi üks juures oleva sademevee seirekaevu kõrged reostusnäitajad on põhjustatud lennujaama poolt kasutatavate jäätõrjevedelike poolt. Selleks, et leida vastus, teostas töö autor analüüse seirekaevu sademeveele. Tallinna Lennujaamal tuli vastata ka neile laekunud kaebustele, et kasutava jäätõrjevedeliku lõhnad kanduvad kevadel ümbritsevasse õhku, mis häirib elanike. Lõhnad võivad pärineda ka lennujaama territooriumilt läbijooksvast kraavist. Selleks, et teada saada, kas jäätõrjevedelike lõhna on võimalik tunda lennujaama territooriumilt läbi jooksva kraavi veest, teostas töö autor katse, uurides jäätõrjevedeliku mõju Tallinna Lennujaama territooriumil kasvavatele taimedele. Töö esimeses peatükis on lahti selgitatud vee kvaliteedi näitajad ning kuidas Tallinna Lennujaam teostab jäätõrjet.

De-icing liquids are a vital part of Tallinn’s Airports work. De-icing liquids are important to ensure the safety of flights at low temperatures. Ice and snow make flying harder and may cause an aircraft to crash. De-icing liquids are chemicals and as with most chemicals, if they are released into nature, they may disrupt the natural chemical balance of the environment. On Tallinn’s Airport territory there is a system designed to gather de-icing liquid runoff, so that the chemicals won’t end up in nature. The purpose of this thesis Tallinn’s Airports de-icing liquids effect on the rainwater, was to examine if the high pollutions levels in the monitoring well by the snow gathering plot are caused by the de-icing liquids used by the airport. In order to find an answer to that question, the author of this work carried out analyses on the water in the monitoring well. Tallinn’s Airport also had to respond to the complaints they have received from the residents around them, that during spring the smell of deicing liquids carries over to them through the air. The smells could also originate from the ditch that runs through the airport. In order to find out, if the smell of de-icing liquids can be detected in the water of the ditch that runs through the airport, the author of this work conducted an experiment, to find out how de-icing liquids affect the vegetation that grows on the airport territory. The water quality indicators and how Tallinn's Airport uses de-icing liquids are explained in the first chapter of this thesis.
