dc.description.abstract | Diplomitöö eesmärk on projekteerida Tuukri tn. 2 kinnistule kultuuri keskus, võttes osaliselt arvesse alale algatatud detailplaneeringut, sealhulgas arvestades Reidi teega, tegemaks jalakäija tänavaruumi inimsõbralikumaks ning turvalisemaks.
dc.description.abstract | The following thesis’ purpose is to project an innovative cultural centre in Estonia’s capital, Tallinn. The building would be situated on 2th Tuukri street. The thesis takes into consideration the already launched detail plan of the area and also considers Reidi road, pursuing to make the pedestrian space friendlier and safer towards them. The idea of the building is to embrace the cultures of the world, bringing them under one roof for display. The centre would bring forward various culture’s differences and also capitalizes on showing how alike cultures can be. The ambition is to widen the perception of whoever comes to visit the building by showing cultures from a different angle, through different methods. The building is also dedicated to bringing together all the current institutions that are associated with cultures as such. There would be enough space to hold all kinds of events, from festivals to threatre plays, from film and music events to modest lectures. Last but not least, the centre would also be a place to spend your free time in quality environment. It would work as a educative centre to express and bring forth different aspects of cultures but also be a place where there’d be numerous of ways to feel relaxed, meaning all kinds of ages would be welcome. Architectually, the space is projected as simply as possible. It has flow and has a spacious feel, which definitely does not mean dull. It’s simplistic but definitely in a interesting way. The view to the sea and also to the Old town of Tallinn creates a beautiful atmosphere and definitely adds to the overall value of the building. Currently, as the cultural topics and issues are talked about more than ever, the cultural centre has a clear role to introduce different cultures and broaden the people’s minds about other cultures of the world, other than their own way of living. An artistic, good looking, stylish and a high-quality building is to create a space, which arouses the enthusiasm towards learning other cultures through visual art, movies, music, history, books and other means. The building is designed to offer as many means as possible to be able to completely display foreign cultures, having all the necessary capabilities. It’s a place for representatives of endless of cultures to come together and socialize, get to know eachother’s backgrounds more and what’s more important, embrace the difference and tolerance. | en |
