Eesti Moemaja

Projektiga "Eesti moemaja" soovin pakkuda välja arhitektuurse lahenduse Eesti moe esindushoonele. Mood ja arhitektuur on tihedalt omavahel seotud, eriti vaadates mõlemat ala lihtsustatud kujul. Mõlemad alustavad otsides referentse ja inspiratsiooni, sealt edasi toimub sketšimine, testimine; katse ja eksituse perioodi läbimine, kuni lõpuks jõutakse idee realiseerimiseni. Lõppude lõpuks on tulemus taandatud inimskaalale – kui sellega ei arvestata või dimensioneeritakse üle, häirib see vaatleja silma ja disain saab kriitika osaliseks. Kuigi moe ja arhitektuuri tiheda sideme tõid välja juba Adolf Loos ja Gottfried Semper, jäetakse see side tänapäevases arutelus tahaplaanile. Muidugi on soov olla eriline ja eraldiseisev, kuid samas on olemas mitmed näited nii moemaailmas koha leidnud endistest arhitektuuritudengitest, nagu näiteks Marc Jacobs, kui ka nimekatest arhitektidest, kellel on olnud tihe koostöö moemaailmaga – Rem Koolhaas, Zaha Hadid. Tihedama koostöö edendamisega oleks võimalik tuua ka uusi ideid mõlemasse loomevaldkonda, mis võib anda täiendavaid aspekte ja lisada loomingule värvikust. Lihtsa lakoonilise hoonega soovin anda noorele majandusharule müügipinna, moelava, muuseumi, showruumi, laboratooriumi, büroo/ateljeepinnad. Maakri asumi krundile Maakri 34 ja Maakri 34a olen paigutanud lahenduse piirkonda, kus ajalooliselt on olnud kanga värvimistöökojad ja keemiline puhastus. Keskendades tähelepanu Maakri ajaloole kui ka soovides piirkonda elavadada, pakun välja kahest tornist koosneva kõrghoone. Lahendus võtab eeskuju “tornide merest” antud asumis, valides neutraalse seisukoha sealsete arhitektuurituulte suhtes. Eesti moemaja on loodud äri- ja kreatiivseks pinnaks, kus Eesti mood saaks tuult tiibadesse.

With the project “Fashion house of Estonia” I wish to present an architectural proposal for a representative house for Estonian fashion. Architecture and fashion are closely linked, especially looking at both art forms in the simplified ways. Both start off with finding references and inspiration, from there move on to sketching, testing, trial and error period – until the idea is fully developed and presentable. In the end everything reverts back to the human scale – if no attention is paid, the projects lose their scale and become a bother to the human eye. Although Adolf Loos and Gottfried Semper have uncovered the close ties between architecture and fashion, these days the connection is often pushed to the sidelines. Naturally the wish to be special and different are apparent, yet there are several examples of former architecture students turned fashion designers, like Marc Jacobs or Virgil Abloh, as well as famous architects, who turned to closely work with the fashion world, such as Zaha Hadid and Rem Koolhaas. Pushing for more teamwork between fashion and architecture new ground could be discovered and bring new ideas into the fields. Horizons could be broadened and new fresh colours added to the aspects spectrum. With a simple laconic building the idea is to give this young branch of economy sales, a fashion stage, museum, showrooms, laboratories, bureaus and studio space. The combined grounds of Maakri 34 and Maakri 34a is located in an area where in the past have been dry cleaning and fabric colouring facilities. Focusing on the history of Maakri as well as wanting to bring back life to the area, I suggest a building with two towers. The towers are connected back to the already established sea of towers found in Maakri, choosing to be neutral towards giving a general idea of the future architecture brought into the region. The Fashion House of Estonia is created to bring commercial and creative spaces to Estonian fashion designers, giving them the needed boost to step onto the world stage.
